Making a vow to God in the old covenant was an absolute unbreakable commitment. (In the book of Judges 11-1- 40. Jephthan made a vow to God that if he helped him defeat the Ammonites he would sacrifice the first thing that came out of house. ** His daughter came out first. He ripped his cloth in grief. He had no sons. Now his daughter would have to serve God in the sanctuary never to Marry and he would never be a grandfather. (Deuteronomy 23:21-23 When you make a vow to the Lord your God, you shall not delay to pay it; for the Lord will surely require it of you, and it will be sin to you. But if you abstain from vowing it shall not be sin to you.) Hannah in 1 Samuel 1:11 made a vow to God, that if God gave her a son, she would dedicate him to the temple and leave him there. Hannah kept her promise, when she became pregnant. She only had him for three years and then left him at temple to be raised by the priest. (Pointmen, today we are under a new covenant but there are two vows that must be taken serious. The first is when we accept Jesus as our Lord and savior. We then pick up our cross daily following him no matter the cost. The second vow we make is in marriage. We choose our bride and vow to God to love her in the good and the bad until he separates us in death. To be successful in both of these vows we must remain God focused. (Study/pray)

 As supermen, there are times that we need to take off our cape and just listen. (In 1 Samuel 1:4-7 we read about Hannah who was barren praying to have children. In 1 Samuel 1:8 Then Elakanah her husband said to her. Hannah, why do you weep? Why do you not eat? And why is your heart grieved? Am I not better to you than ten sons?) We men sometimes put our foot in our mouth like Elkanah who knew the answers to the questions he was asking his wife. Her answer was probably no he was not better then ten sons at the moment of her grief because she was barren and was praying for a son. (Verse 9-10 So Hannah arose after they had finished eating and drinking in Shiloh. And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to the Lord and wept in anguish.) Pointmen when our wife is crying, grieving or going through something we don't always have to say something. We just need to wipe her tears and hold her, helping her feel safe in your arms. We can pray over her that God gives her peace and we support her in what she is going through. We also pray in agreement with her for an answer to her prayer. Don't miss these moments like Elkanah.) It's Monday. In Joseph's dream, he sees his eleven brothers as stars and his father and mother as the sun and moon, all bowing down to him. (Genesis 37:10). (Abraham was given a promise by God in Genesis 12:1 that he would make him a great nation. In Genesis 15:1-21 He promised him a son. God also said the stars shall be like your decendants. The promised son Isaac was born in Genesis 21. Isaac had the seed of the two nations as told to Rebekaha his wife in Genesis 25:23. In Genesis 26:4 God told Issac that his descendants would multiply as the stars of heaven. In Genesis 32:28 Jacob was given the name of the promised nation to come Israel. In Joseph's story through all the twisted and turns a promise is fulfilled.
from Genesis 37 to Genesis to 46, Jacob also hears from the Lord in Genesis 46: 3, God told Jacob to go to Egypt, I will make you a great nation. In Exodus 1:7. Israel multipled and grew mighty. (Pointmen, God keeps his promises. What you praying and believing for God to do?
